Katie Schraeder is a freelance trombonist (tenor/bass/alto) and private teacher currently living in Biddeford, Maine, USA.

She is a graduate of the Hart School at the University of Hartford (Master’s of Music - Trombone Performance) and East Tennessee State University (Bachelor’s of Music - Instrumental Music Education), as well as a certified K-12 music teacher. 

Katie performs regularly as a chamber musician, pit orchestra musician, and soloist. She has a passion for musical theater, working with professional theaters like Ogunquit Playhouse (Ogunquit, ME) and Seacoast Repertory Theater (Portsmouth, NH) as well as recently appearing on the Broadway tour of Mean Girls.  She is a current member of the Seacoast Revival Brass Quartet, Seacoast Revival Early Jazz Band, and Deep Blue C Studio Orchestra but also performs frequently with other local groups including the New Legacy Swing Band, The Coastals, the Granite State Choral Society, and more.

Some notable performances include playing in the pit orchestra for the regional premiere of Tootsie at Ogunquit Playhouse, featuring Sally Struthers from All in the Family and Gilmore Girls in 2023; playing in the pit orchestra for the regional premiere of Parade at Seacoast Repertory Theatre in 2023; performing in a masterclass for David Maslanka with the Performing Arts Institute Wind Ensemble in 2016; performing in concert with Bob Dorough from School House Rock with the Moravian College BIG Band in 2015; and performing for Sammy Nestico at the Sammy Nestico Jazz Festival at Marywood University in 2013.
